The Hunger Games – Mockingjay 2

Movie:  Mockingjay 2

Rating:  4 Stars (Out of 5)

Quickie Review:   Anyone who goes to see this movie should have seen the preceding three Hunger Games movies, otherwise you’ll be clueless as to what the heck is going on.   So we begin the final part of this saga with the rebel forces, led by President Coin (Julianne Moore), plotting the final military strikes that will get their forces into the Capitol.  Most of the establishment forces have been defeated in the 12 provinces, and now only the Capitol is holding out, the last refuge for the dastardly President Snow (Donald Sutherland).

The Mockingjay, aka Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence), is supposed to be held back in the rear safe and sound, and create inspirational videos for the rebel troops to fight on to victory.  But no one puts Katniss in the corner, and she is off on her own personal mission.   Basically, Katniss is hell bent on  making a beeline through the war zone and snuffing out President Snow’s candle.  And she will kick ass and take names all along the way.

Mockingjay Part 1 basically teed the viewers up for this finale for the series, and they will be rewarded with plenty of action to settle the scores and end the story.  Along with the action, all you romantics will be on the edge of your seat to see if Katniss wants to be with Peeta (Josh Hutcherson), or the other hunky guy Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth).   It was a little sad to see Phillip Seymour Hoffman (Plutarch) in his final acting role.  But the real star of the film, Jennifer Lawrence, dazzles us as always, and makes us want her to star in every film.  The movie is great fun and well done.
